Educational Programs

In addition to written material for parents, Texas Center for the Missing staff and
volunteers are available for speaking engagements and seminars on missing children.
Special emphasis is placed on preventing this all too common tragedy. Sample programs include:

S.A.F.E. Child Puppet Show designed for children under 10 years old. The puppet show features Detective Buddy who teaches Billy and his friend, Barb, how to stay safe with real-life examples.+
Missing Child Awareness Education and Prevention Presentation is specifically designed to teach parents, childcare providers, concerned community leaders, and educators how to keep children safe from abduction and internet lures.
Interactive Online Safety Training via multi-media presentations developed in three formats geared toward: (1) parents/adult caregivers, (2) 6th- 12th Graders, and (3) elementary-aged children.
Alzheimer’s Wandering Prevention Training for caregivers whose loved ones suffer from any form of dementia to deter the highly dangerous pattern of wandering.
Information and Referral:
I&R services include: general safety information, child identification kits, missing persons case management, Crime Victims’ Compensation Advocacy, missing persons search and rescue resources, law enforcement liaison services, and victim advocacy.
Amber Alert: As the administrator of the Houston Regional Amber Plan, we train law enforcement on the local Amber system, provide 24-hour support for alert issuance, and deploy trained search-and-rescue experts upon request.

* All services provided to the community at no charge, however, donations are appreciated.
