For Immediate Release: MetLife to Present $1,000 Check at Texas Center for the Missing’s National Missing Children’s Day Poster Judging Contest on March 19, 2008.

Texas Center for the Missing will host the state level National Missing Children’s Day Poster Contest on March 19, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in their new Mobile Search and Education Lab. The Lab will be in the parking lot of Central Presbyterian Church at 3788 Richmond Avenue in Houston.

At this year’s Poster Judging Event, volunteers from MetLife will be on hand to provide a $1,000 donation from the MetLife Foundation.
This judging event will determine the Texas entry into the annual National Missing Children’s Day Poster Contest held each year by the Department of Justice.
The single national winner, his/her teacher, and his/her parents will participate in the National Missing Children’s Day ceremony at the U.S. Department of Justice to be held on or around May 25, 2008. Transportation and lodging will be provided. The national winner also will receive a national award certificate and a United States Savings Bond. No other awards will be provided by the Department of Justice. More information about the contest can be located at: http://ojjdp.ncjrs.gov/programs/postercontest/downloads.html

Texas Center for the Missing administers the Houston Regional Amber Alert Plan. Texas Center for the Missing is dedicated to providing support for families and the volunteers searching for their missing children and endangered adults. The organization also serves as a catalyst for mobilizing resources in the search for missing children and adults, has created a plan for immediate action if a child is unaccounted for, and educates the public on prevention of abduction and internet lures.
